A CENTER FOR ANTS?

In early 2015 my father came to me, as president of the Alumni Association of Santiago High School in Garden Grove, CA, asking my assistance to build and assemble a working recording studio in an unused space in the school. Having had years of experience with music and film production, I thought it was a great idea and was happy to help. After a few months of work, the studio is up and running, featuring a green-screen studio, a sound-treated live room, and a 16 channel mixing desk running industry standard recording software. Now, the recording studio is used daily by students to create school news programs, film undertakings and more. The project continues to grow and change organically, subsiding on outside donations. Up to this point, all equipment has been donated by various companies, or purchased with money raised through raffling off concert tickets and band merchandise. With the success of Santiago High School's studio, I figured that the best way to help this grow further was to give the idea a face and an identity, so I founded Studios For Schools.
This foundation was created to give some professional-level studio experience to young filmmakers, music producers and engineers, as well as create an avenue for individuals and organizations to get involved. My goal is to help Santiago as well as other schools to attain and maintain production studios with industry-standard equipment. Access to these resources will allow the students to learn and develop creative and technical skills that they can utilize now and in their future. We are currently filing to become a registered 503(c)(3) nonprofit. If you would like to contribute, or would like to try to get a studio started in your high school, let me know! The sky is the limit with this and I think we can get these whippersnappers off to a good start!
